Bollywood film-makers have time and again entertained us with different subjects in different contexts, using their vivid imagination and relatable characters, which have kept our interest in movies alive. A much-awaited, upcoming film, in which the situations and characters are absurd yet absolutely lovable, is Total Siyapaa. A well-thought out rom-com outlining the problem of a cross-cultural love story with a tadka of conflicting families, result in some rib tickling humour for the audience.
Aman ( Ali zafar) and Asha (Yami Gautam) are students of a London University. The working title of the film was therefore, ‘Aman ki Asha’ which was later replaced with the more Bollywood-style’ Total Siyapaa’ meaning Total Chaos. The lead protagonists meet in college, fall in love, but their different nationalities, pose a big problem for their marriage, as Asha’s parents seem okay as far as its inter caste but not international, especially when the nationality in question is ‘Pakistan’, our supposed enemies since 1947. The film turns into a laugh riot with the embarrassing tasks Aman is expected to do, in order to please his future Mother In Law, Kirron Kher, and resist the lusty advances made by Asha’s sister with funny references and fights straight out of the history books of India and Pakistan.
Ali Zafar was last seen in the commercially successful film Chashme Badoor and not so long ago in London, Paris, New York and Mere Brother Ki Dulhan. Ali’s forte has been romantic comedies to which he contributes greatly by lending his vocals and music too. His role was appreciated in his debut film Tere Bin Laden, for its quirky satire on Osama Bin Laden. All of his films have done decently at the Box Office. Additionally, his music sensibility and pop artist background helps him score the film’s tracks adding value to his work.
His fashion sense is understated yet stylish with bright t-shirts paired with jeans and an overcoat for most appearances. For more formal events, Ali Zafar is seen suiting up. For promotional events, we’ve seen him wear long kurtas on jeans. His trick is do up her his hair differently every time. We can’t help but notice how his hand runs through his hair every few minutes, while he speaks publicly or in person.

Yami Gautam is a young girl of 25 and has already done multi-lingual Indian films in Hindi, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada. She was born in Bilaspur and brought up in Chandigarh and interestingly has been a Delhi girl in both her films so far, Vicky Donor and Total Siyapaa. From adverts to Television Serials to Films, Yami has come a long way in the glamour world.
Yami’s fashon sense is incredible for young fans to follow; she keeps it simply chic by choosing bright clothing in different attires, Indian and Western. Be it, jeans or top, or a long skirt over a halter neck top, she exemplifies great femininity and youth. Yami carries an Indian outfit with the same grace as she does a Western one. She has a good mix of both the worlds in her wardrobe and never forgets to wear a smile with her clothes. Her gowns are minimal and bright, her hair is side of her hair parting.

Interestingly, this is the first time Kirron Kher and Anupam Kher, the real life jodi will be paired opposite each other on-screen as well in Total Siyapaa. They make a very talented pair, lending the right personality to hyper Punjabi parents. Additionally, the film is directed by E. Niwas and written by Neeraj Pandey , who is known for his serious subjects like A Wednesday and Special 26. So it’s going to be interesting to see how he fares with a comedy script. All in all, Total Siyapaa will make you totally crazy with its outrageous and downright bizarre moments. Catch it in theatres on March 7th, 2014.
