Sunny Leone or Karenjit Kaur Vohra (that’s her real name) was born to Punjabi Sikh parents in Ontario, in the year 1981. She was involved in sports activities right from her childhood and played street hockey and ice-skating.

Before joining the adult film industry, Sunny Leone worked at a German bakery, a jiffy lube and a tax and retirement company. While studying pediatric nursing in Orange Country, she got introduced to Jay Allen, who was the photographer of the ‘Penthouse’ magazine. She chose Sunny as the alias she wanted to operate under and Leone was picked by Bob Guccioni, the owner of Penthouse magazine. She started posing for Penthouse and soon was named “Penthouse Pet of the Year” in 2003.

Sunny Leone career in pornography
In the year 2003, she signed a 3-year contract with Vivid Entertainment, with the help of which she stepped into the world of pornography. She stated that she would only act in lesbian scenes.
In May 2007, she re-signed her contract with Vivid for six more movies. It was the first time that she agreed to perform with men on-screen, but exclusively with Matt Erikson, her fiancé. Under the new contract, her first movie titled “Sunny loves Matt” fetched her nominations for three AVN awards in 2009 along with the choice of being the “Performer of the Year”.
From January 2008, she came out from her “only-Erikson” restriction, and performed with other actors too such as Charles Dera, Tommy Gunn, Voodoo and James Dean.
In 2009, she launched her own studio ‘Sunlust Pictures’ along with Daniel Weber. In her new venture, she decided to write, direct and produce her own movies with Vivid Entertainment as the main distributor. Her first production under her new venture released in 2009 which was titled “The Dark side of the Sun”.
Ever since 2009, Leone started working with other studios and performers as well.
In 2008, she was awarded the “Web Babe of the Year” at the Xbiz Awards. In an interview in 2012, she stated that 60% of her revenues and 80% traffic on her websites came from India.

In 2011, she participated in Bigg Boss, the popular Indian reality TV series, which stirred the critics from all over the country. At the same time, she received a huge mass of fan following, with her twitter feed receiving more than 8000 followers in just 2 days. Her appearance in the show led to complaints stating the national channel to indulge in promoting pornography.
During her stay in the house of Bigg Boss, she was offered her first Bollywood break by Mahesh Bhatt for the movie Jism 2, which marked her entry to Bollywood. Though many criticized the entry of a porn star into mainstream movies, she managed to steal millions of hearts with her sensuous performance in the movie.

Her two other Bollywood movies include Kaizad Gustad’s “Jackpot” and Ekta Kapoor’s “Ragini MMS 2”. She also featured in an item song in Ekta Kapoor’s “Shootout at Wadala”.
Currently she is working on “Tina and Lolo” and would also be giving a special appearance in a Tamil movie “Vadacurry”.
Apart from her acting and dancing skills, she is also acclaimed to be one of the best dressed ladies in B-town with her remarkable fashion sense. She has also posed for photographs draped in traditional sarees which has also turned heads of millions, stating it to be extremely ‘sexy’ and ‘praiseworthy’.

Sunny Leone’s Recent Status
After working in the pornography industry for years, Sunny Leone now wishes to build a career in Bollywood and do serious works in the movies.
