Shraddha Kapoor is the latest name to join the brigade of fresh, young actors in Bollywood. Born into a filmy family, Shraddha was meant to choose acting as her career with Shakti Kapoor and Shivangi Kolhapure for parents. We have all seen, adored and loved her as Aarohi in ‘Aashiqui 2’. She played a college student in ‘Teen Patti’ and had a role in the Yash Raj teen comedy, ‘Luv ka The End’. But it was the cult romantic hit in ‘Aashiqui 2’ that got her rewards.

Shraddha was born to a Punjabi father and Maharastrian mother, but she insists that she is a total Marathi mulgi just like her stunning mother and massis. She is the niece of actress Padmini Kolhapure and director Tejaswini Kolhapure.
She is the grand niece of veteran singers Asha Bhosle and Lata Mangeshkar. Siddhant Kapoor, her only elder sibling is a former disc-jockey and now an actor. Her schooling was done in Mumbai, in American School of Bombay, after which she went to Boston for her higher education. But she had to return to the city in 2010, when she was approached for her debut film ‘Teen Patti’ where she shared screen-space with ace actors like Amitabh Bachchan, Ben Kinsley and R. Madhavan, indeed a dream debut for any actor. Though the film received average reviews, Shraddha stood out as an edgy young actor. Rumor has it that post signing on ‘Aashiqui 2’, she has been dating her co-star Aditya Roy Kapur.
Later in 2011, she was seen in Yash Raj’s ‘Luv Ka the End’, where she played the character of a teenage student. Though the film received a mixed response, Shraddha Kapoor’s performance was appreciated by critics and her fans.
Shraddha Kapoor has always been a level-headed, practical girl. she chose to cancel a 3-film deal with Yash Raj as she did not want to play the lead in the film ‘Aurangzeb’.
Then came the first milestone of her life, the cult blockbuster film ‘Aashiqui 2’. This Mahesh Bhatt film was the remake of the romantic classic ‘Aashiqui’. She was indeed convincing in her role of an aspiring singer who falls in love with the singing superstar, Rahul Jaykar. The film received great appreciation by fans and critics alike. Shraddha was amongst the nominees of the best actress for Filmfare that year for ‘Aashiqui 2’.
The actress is also seen sporting kundan jewellery and ghajra which represents the South culture. ‘Gori Tere Pyaar Mein’ was released on November 22, 2013.
Her forthcoming films are Vishal Bhardwaj’s much awaited film ‘Haider’ along with Shahid Kapoor, Irrfan Khan and Tabu, which is an adaptation of Shakespeare’s ‘Hamlet’. Her next will also be Ekta Kapoor’s ‘Villan’ alongside Sidharth Malhotra.
The striking Marathi mulgi is not only rocking the silver screen but is also the face of multiple brands today. Some of the brands in her kitty are Lakme, Wella, Vaseline and Deo Secret Temptation. Lately, in a survey conducted by FHM, she was ranked No. 5 on the list of ‘100 Sexiest Women in the World in 2013’.
After all the awards and rewards, Miss Kapoor is also a known face on runways and fashion weeks. In 2011, she walked the ramp for ‘Lakme Fashion Week’ and ‘India International Jewellery Week’.
