Celebrities, however, choose to be an exception to this rule and thereby create styles for themselves that are followed by millions commonly known as their Fan Clubs.Take the case of suspenders that have been worn by men for ages. Somewhere along the way, they had lost momentum, but like all other fashions, they are now bouncing back into the fashion scene.

What are suspenders?

Suspenders area pair of elastic straps that hold trousers up.They can be made of leather or fabric and are typically worn over the shoulders to  hold trousers firmly in place.  They should have elasticity at their ends so that they work effectively to stretch out to hold on to trousers.

Comeback Style Suspenders:

Suspenders have been in existence more or less over the last 300 years and,therefore, have evolved quite a lot in terms of design and sophistication. The modern type of suspenders was believed to have been created first in 1820 by none other than Albert Thurston. Since then, suspenders virtually made belts impractical in view of its wide acceptance throughout the world. Subsequently, they lost their charm during World War I as people got accustomed to uniform belts, but remained standard throughout 1920.

Fashion is a living subject and as such can’t stick to a particular type for long. Hence, belts became highly popular at the cost of suspenders in 1930 in view of growing consciousness of the aesthetics of trousers. By 1938,about 60% Americans were not in favor of suspenders – rather they switched to belts, causing a huge loss to the suspenders market.

Suspenders again caught the attention of the masses through the recent remakes of cinematic characters such as James Bond 007 and Judge John Deed. Back home in Bollywood, Raj Kapoor was the legend who favored suspenders only to pass on this baton to his son RishiKapoor. Later, Amir Khan and Salman Khan also wore them when enacting different characters.

Types of suspenders:
There are two broad types of suspenders—baggy fit and regular fit As the name suggests, baggy suspenders are meant for a loose fit while a regular fit refers to fits that do well with normal body types.

What can you wear beneath your suspenders?
As suspenders have become a style statement, one should wear formal pants/trousers beneath them and a pair of good shoes.
