The Company

Versace is a world famous premium Italian brand that deals in couture, sportswear, jewellery, jeans and other fashion accessories. It was founded by Gianni Versace in 1978. The first store opened in 1978 in Milan. Today, Versace has 82 boutiques around the globe; its first boutique was opened in Glasgow, Scotland, in 1991. Its products range from  watches, bags, sunglasses, perfumes and jeans; you name it and you have it!

Versace Dress

When it comes to making a style statement, Versace is the brand. It was in the year 1994 when Hugh Grant’s then girlfriend, Elizabeth Hurley, wore a black dress to the premiere of his movie Four Weddings and a Funeral, and took the world by storm, with just the help of that dress. This dress, which later came to be known by the paparazzi as ‘that dress’ is considered to be one of the best works and is hugely held responsible for kick-starting Elizabeth Hurley’s career. Assassination and Later

In 1997, the company suffered a huge blow when Gianni Versace was murdered by a serial killer named Andrew Cunanan. After that, his sister, Donatella Versace, the then vice-president, stepped into his shoes as the new creative director of the company.

Lady Gaga

Versace has always been surrounded by high profile celebrities. Lady Gaga, its current celebrity face arrived at this year’s Atelier Versace fashion week in a haut hooded black couture gown. But she was not alone; she was accompanied by, what appeared to all, her twin sister, which really was Donatella Versace dressed in a black dress with skyscraper heals. While Lady Gaga was adorned with curled silky locks, Donatella’s hair fell straight over her shoulders.
