What you see – Located in a lane next to two prominent buildings, Mayfair Apartments and Lumbini Mall, Delphis is not that difficult to find. The clinic itself is located on the first floor of a ritzy independent building. Just before you enter the clinic is a small room to your right, which is a play area for children below four years. It’s stacked with toys, books etc to keep children entertained.
On entering, there is a reception desk and a waiting area with about 14 comfortable chairs and a beautiful view of the city as a backdrop. Close to the entrance is the pharmacy, with neatly stacked homeopathic medicines and a natural health food counter. In the corner is a bookshelf with health and lifestyle books for sale.
What you get – Delphis was started in 1993 at Punjagutta, Hyderabad by Dr. Srinivasa Rao. It is a subsidiary of Ramakrishna Homeo Stores, a full-fledged homeopathy clinic and pharmacy, which was established in 1937 by Dr. Rao’s grandfather.
As the tagline of Delphis (Complementary Medicine and Therapies) suggests it has complementary practices comprising homeopathy, nutrition therapy, psychology and physiotherapy. The doctors for the same include Dr. Srinivasa Rao, Mrs. N. Sudha Rama, Dr. Padmaja, Dr. Kiran Mayi and Dr. P. Sreedhar Reddy.
Dr. Rao tells us that the idea behind Delphis is to treat a patient through the anthroposophical (treat the body, mind, soul and spirit) and holistic approach. He explains that a person’s health problem could be because of an emotional or diet issue that he or she is unaware of. So the team of practitioners goes through one week of Anthroposophical training conducted every year by experts to enhance their knowledge. Dr. P Sreedhar Reddy, the physiotherapist has even undergone training in rhythmic massages (massaging the bioelectric fields and streaming the energy).
Consultation sessions involve knowing about the person’s lifestyle, history and health. Based on the information the treatment is done by one or more of the practitioners. All the five practitioners have regular clinical meets to discuss their patients’ case histories and progress. First-time consultation charges range from Rs. 250 to Rs. 800 based on whether you need the help of a nutrition therapist, homepathic doctor, physiotherapist or a psychologist.
Our verdict – The initiative behind Delphis seems non-commercial as they look at reducing the patient’s dependencies on medication. Besides, the concept of having four different doctors under one roof saves a person from traveling to different parts of the city. The stairs leading to Delphis may be slightly difficult for older patients to climb. Parking has to be done on the side of the road.
