What you see – Nestled amidst shops, a salon and even a pub in Alcazar Plaza and Towers, Café Rico definitely stands out. It’s a small and distinctively designed open coffee shop in Banjara Hills, Hyderabad. It has a food and drinks counter on one side and seating for 42 people on comfortable sofas and chairs on the other. Two flat screen televisions give you yet another excuse to sit around.
What you get – At Café Rico you mainly get Continental food like plain / mushroom omelets, cold salads, sandwiches, French fries, croissants, pancakes, pastries, pizzas and pastas. You will also get parathas here.
Café Rico also serves up some interesting mocktails, which are very popular and have names like Lady in Green, Hide and Seek, Baywatch and Blue Ocean. The Rico Kiss mocktail is worth a try.
We tried their Cheese and Mushroom omelets. You can either have it plain or with two slices of delicious toast, a chicken sausage, a grilled tomato, hash brown potato, butter and jam (all for an additional Rs. 35). But be warned small eaters, it’s quite filling. While we recommend their cheese omelet, the mushroom omelet is nothing to write home about.
In addition to food, Café Rico offers avenues for entertainment with board games like Carom, Snakes and Ladders, Chess, Ludo, Spell ‘o’ Word and more. All you need to do is ask and play, as it’s free! There are magazines, newspapers and even novels lying around for your reading pleasure. Of course, there’s television too.
Our verdict – It’s nice to have a place like Café Rico to eat, sit and relax while playing a board game or two. Their food is good, portions are ample and the staff is very helpful. Parking is not a problem with two levels of basement space available. They also do free home delivery for a minimum order of Rs. 200 for a radius of three kilometers.
